US Official: China and Russia will regret UN vote

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice says China and Russia are running of risk of suffering the same sort of international isolation as Syria's Bashar Assad because of their decision to block a U.N. Security Council vote embracing an Arab League solution for the Syrian crisis.

Rice says in a nationally broadcast interview she thinks both Moscow and Beijing "will come to regret" their votes Saturday against the Arab League-sponsored resolution aimed at moving Assad in the direction of a peaceful transition to democracy in his violence-wracked country.

Rice tells "CBS This Morning" she shares Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's view that the failed vote in the Security Council was a "travesty" and said the United States will continue to step up pressure for Assad to step aside.

International isolation? As I travel abroad extensively, I know Russia and China are two very respected countries. You don't hear often Russians or Chinese are kidnapped and killed in other countries.
      • TradeD12 3 mths ago
that's because we don't have Russian or Chinese news channels on our TV. Do you really think US news has time to discuss every missing person around the world?
      • CMVS 3 mths ago
Do you think "US news" is the only thing on TV around the world? "Travel abroad" generally means to other countries...

What world is the US ambassador living in? Isolating Russia and China...they are superpowers...not cuba. Maybe protecting they are just protecting the US from our own stupid decisions.
      • Ziad Fadel 3 mths ago
You are right. This U.S. ambassador is from the last rung of failed diplomats. She is viewed with contempt by her peers. Good luck in Arabia and stay away from those Qatari pedophiles. Long live secular Syria under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad.

China bought more than half of the US Debt. I wonder what Rice would say if that country decided to collect.
    • Jim  •  3 mths ago
You know what Susan Rice, if you don't like their vote you go and fight the war!!!! Enlist in the military you academic, new world order stooge!!
    • Bill  •  3 mths ago
They are not going to regret anything, nothing will happen except maybe their arm sales will increase making them loads of money.
    • Ocean  •  3 mths ago
Is Rice indicating some revenge plan?
    • Badger  •  3 mths ago
I don't think the US has no longer any power on China..they own trillions of US debt and if Chinese production slows our economy will be devastated. Also, Russia hold the key to oil for all of Europe. Got it now? The US has lost influence unless you talk about military intervention. The Obama-Hilllary foreign policies are a joke.

China and Russia will regret? Really? USA is a bankrupt with huge debt, which is impossible to pay off. USA stores sell china crop from floor to sailing, how you going to replace it? USA still exist, just because of China`s money,if they stop to lend money to USA,America will collapse.Russia can exist with or without USA or other countries, they have everything and do not depend on others and have no debt.

What would the USA do if the people rose up against our government? Would they fire on its citizens if we rushed the White House to attack our president and congressional leaders?

Almost every day brings some new barrage of fear-mongering lies and vaporous accusations from leading members of the Obama Administration and other nabobs at the top of the political-media elite, all of them aimed relentlessly at one goal: justifying military action against Iran.

It is an almost exact replay of what we saw in 2002-2003 during the build-up to the war of aggression against Iraq – with one significant exception. The “progressive” opposition to the baseless warmongering is virtually non-existent this time around – because the warmonger-in-chief is their own champion, their partisan standard-bearer. Many voices that hurled thunderous denunciations at the Bush Regime for its brazen manipulations toward a baseless and unjustified war are now silent – that is, if they are not actively supporting the increasingly rabid saber-rattling by the Peace Laureate. To them, Obama’s re-election is more important than anything on earth: certainly more important than the thousands (or tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands) of innocent people who will die in the long-running, far-reverberating hellstorm that an attack on Iran will create.
