Us Weekly Retracts Kendall Jenner Interview

After model Kendall Jenner slammed Us Weekly, saying the publication made up quotes from her about her parent Bruce Jenner, Us Weekly has retracted its original article.

“When Ms. Jenner denied, via Twitter, that the interview took place, Us Weekly immediately reached out to the freelance reporter,” said Us Weekly in its retraction on Thursday. “He stood by the interview, and continues to maintain that the quotes are accurate. However, after attempting to reconfirm his account, editors of Us have concerns about the veracity of this interview and the circumstances under which it was obtained. We would like to retract the story entirely and have removed it from our website. We sincerely apologize to Ms. Jenner and her family.”

The original story, which was run under a “Us Weekly Staff” byline, quoted Kendall Jenner speaking about Bruce Jenner’s long-rumored gender reassignment transition.

“He’s a wonderful man. And just because he’s changing shoes now, so to speak, doesn’t make him less wonderful,” said the quote. “I will always love my dad, whether he’s a man or a woman.”

Kendall Jenner fired back on Twitter on Wednesday, however, writing, “Shame on US Weekly for making up quotes. I NEVER said those things. I never spoke to them.”

Bruce Jenner has not yet commented on the rumors of his transition.

The article claimed that the reporter spoke to Kendall Jenner at Saturday’s taping of the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber. Kendall Jenner and sister Kourtney Kardashian were in attendance at the roast, but did not do red carpet interviews before the show.
