USC Media Center Named For CBS’ Leslie Moonves, Julie Chen

The USC Annenberg communication school’s Media Center of the new Wallis Annenberg Hall will be named for CBS CEO Leslie Moonves and his wife, “The Talk” co-host Julie Chen, who have made a major donation to the university.

The 20,000-square-foot Media Center – which combines Annenberg’s student-run digital, broadcast, radio and public relations – is officially being named the Julie Chen/Leslie Moonves and CBS Media Center. It was one of several buildings in the USC media and entertainment departments that bear the names of high-profile Hollywood figures.

Chen, who also hosts CBS’ “Big Brother,” is a USC graduate. Moonves attended Bucknell University and is a member of the USC School of Cinematic Arts’ Board of Councilors. Moonves and Chen will commemorate the building’s christening at a Feb. 25 event.

The specific amount of the donation was not disclosed. The Wallis Annenberg Hall, a $59-million building, opened on Oct. 1 last year.

USC stated that it has amassed more than $100 million toward a two-year-old fundraising initiative intended to generate $150 million to finance the new building as well as scholarships, chaired professorships and student projects.
