Vegas GOP chief: Caucus count to go all night

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Republican party official in charge of counting Nevada caucus ballots in Las Vegas says the process is expected to take all night.

Clark County GOP vice chairman Woody Stroupe says party officials are recounting every ballot cast in Nevada's largest county to make sure there aren't any mistakes.

Stroupe tells The Associated Press that 8 of 40 caucus sites have been counted in the first four hours.

He says the recount isn't because of a challenge, but that it's just party procedure.

Only in Vegas can they count a Million dollars in a matter of seconds and it takes them all night to count 20K votes.

It what quite a messy process. No chair people in the precinct rooms. Ballots could have been easily stuffed as there was no accountabuilty at all. Eleven out of five hundred eligible voters showed up at my precinct, two of them left! The ballots were poorly distributed! Pretty much a joke everyone was complaining! The party decided that orthodox Jews needed a special session as there religion forbidded them from particapating during the set hours. If you had to work during between 9AM-NOON, you were shlt out of luck! The Mississippi of the west! (not to demean the good folks of Mississippi) Definitely need to return to the primary system! Probaly less than 5% of registered republicans even participated! The good news is my precinct got the only three delegates out of possible five, (Ron Paul supporters) registered as delegates to the county convention!

Wouldn't it be fun to watch the networks sweat if the results weren't released until the next day or next week. No projected winners, no victory speeches, and nobody telling us why we voted like we did. By the time the results were announced the candidates would be somewhere else lying to someone else and yesterday or last week would be old news.

I like Santorum based on his convictions and consistency. I like Gingrich based on his real ideas and real solutions to the problems we are facing. I like Paul based on his ability to move the economic discussion.

There are some things I do not like about each of them as well.

I do NOT like Romney because he seems all too willing to change his positions on a dime (to quote Guliani) for political gain, and his clear willingness to say and do anything including falsely smear his opponents using his mountain of money. He does not spend his money to inspire and tell us why he would be the best to lead... rather he spends his millions on the politics of personal destruction. Simply put, I do not trust him, and I think the Obama BILLION dollar campaign will have an EASY task exploiting his MANY weaknesses and short-comings and he, like McCain will lose.

I do not like President Obama based on his failure to anything effectively to move the economy in the right direction for 3 years. Yes the completely anemic economy has started to SLOWLY improve in this election year, Yes he did allow the Bush policies to go after the terrorists like Bin Ladin continue and consequently we have had a couple of successful Seal operations and Drone attacks. But his foreign policy in general has been a dismal failure. His vision is to change America into a more liberal European style of country. The problem is that his model was Greece... which as we see is barely hanging on by a thread.

So that leads us back to the original 3. Gingrich, Santorum, and Paul.

Paul is not going to drop out and support another candidate unless they offered him a BIG role in the Administration to tangibly impact economic policy in the US. However, neither can he win because of his foreign policy views that are seen as radically isolationist and dangerous in the volatile world we live in. The suggestion that we simply ignore Iran and let them develop a Nuke alone is enough to disqualify him in the area of foreign policy.

So that leaves us with two, Gingrich and Santorum.

If Gingrich drops out most of his support would shift to Santorum. If Santorum dropped out virtually ALL of his support would shift to Gingrich. Put them together in Nevada and as it stands at the moment would be 44% to Romney's 46% (not all votes are counted yet). This totally removes Romney, the so-called fair and balanced media, and the establishments propaganda machine that Romney is inevitable.

In the previous Romney wins... the same picture emerges. 40% of ROMNEY voters say that they do NOT like him, but that they think he is going to win, so they voted for him

Santorum and Gingrich need to decide together and privately behind the scenes who has the best chance to beat Romney in the Primaries. Then the other one needs to gracefully bow out and not only endorse but aggressively support the other one.

Otherwise, we are all but guaranteed an Obama second term. No one GOP candidate will have the ability to suppress his own party's turn-out as Romney will. If 40% of your supporters do NOT like you... it is hard to honestly spin that into a positive.

The entire caucus procedure is corrupt and dishonest, and should be done away with immediately. A primary is the only process that ensures a voice to the voting public. Any official promoting a caucus as an honest process discredits themselves massively.
