LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas woman accused of killing her 6-year-old daughter with scissors is refusing to leave her jail bed for her first court appearance, prompting concern from her lawyer about her mental state.
An angry Las Vegas judge on Wednesday reset 27-year-old Danielle Yvonne Slaughter's arraignment on a murder charge. He says he wants her brought to court forcibly on Friday if necessary.
Slaughter's public defender, Andrea Luem (LOOM) told Justice of the Peace Joe M. Bonaventure she's concerned about Slaughter's mental condition.
Slaughter told police she hadn't slept and felt an "evil presence" before she struck her daughter with scissors Sunday.
Police found Slaughter running barefoot and naked, her hands bloody from what she said was the "lamb of God." The child's body was found at their home.
