Venus Williams re-launching fashion line, planning Grand-Slam themed ranges

US tennis player Venus Williams

Venus Williams is relaunching her EleVen by Venus Williams clothing line designed for on and off court, with a range inspired by the French Open, Wimbledon, Summer Olympics and US Open.

The tennis star originally launched EleVen for US store Steve & Barry's, although the chain went into liquidation in 2008. She has since partnered with brands including Ralph Lauren and Gilt Group, and the relaunch of EleVen is set to feature items such as a tournament dress, classic flutter skirt and tank tops for women and polos and V-necks for men. Distribution will be aimed at specialty and department stores.

The sportswoman will bring her personality to the range, with some styles having messages handwritten from Williams such as "Bring It," and "Oh & Oh, Beat 'Em".

Venus's sister Serena has a long-term sponsorship deal with Nike, and earlier this year collaborated with the sports giant on a capsule collection in honor of the 36th anniversary of Black History Month. Venus hopes to see other tennis players wearing the range on court though.

"That would be amazing. That's definitely our goal going forward. Our next step is to show other players wearing it," she told WWD.
