Verizon 4G LTE is now available in more than 100 cities

When it comes to 4G, Verizon is ahead, and it plans to keep its lead. While AT&T’s LTE network isn’t yet off the ground, Verizon is off and running. The wireless carrier continues to aggressively roll out its 4G LTE across the country. Today, Verizon announced that 28 new cities and regions have been upgraded to 4G, meaning the carrier now supports 102 markets with 4G. If you’re near a midsize or large metropolitan area, chances are you may have LTE coverage support. Verizon estimates its customers will attain speeds of 7-12Mbps, meaning your phone connection may begin to rival the speed of your Wi-Fi at home.

If you’re interested in 4G, Verizon has already launched a few compatible phones: the Samsung Droid Charge, HTC ThunderBolt, and LG Revolution. The Motorola Droid Bionic will be the first dual-core 4G phone and should hit shelves in August.
