Mav6 engages Mississippi State on key technical initiatives in 2011, poised to continue technical collaboration in 2012.
Vicksburg, Mississippi (PRWEB) December 29, 2011
In 2011, Mav6 issued a contract to MSU to provide advanced planning services in conjunction with the development of Mav6’s future product concept prototyping facility, known as “Battle Forge.” Per the terms of the contract, MSU is working to identify equipment and infrastructure to meet the company’s rapid technology development requirements. Mav6 recently began taking steps to stand up Battle Forge in Vicksburg, Mississippi and is currently recruiting a director for the facility through a partnership with MSU. Mav6 CEO, Lt. Gen. Dave Deptula, USAF (Ret.) commented, “Over the past several months, we’ve been talking with a number of highly-qualified applicants who share our vision for building a high-tech facility in Mississippi focused on serving the rapidly-changing needs of the warfighter.” Deptula continued, “Together with MSU, we plan to make a hiring decision early in 2012.”
Mav6 also turned to MSU for technical and project management services related to the electrical systems design and installation for the Blue Devil Block 2 airship. The Blue Devil Block 2 system is a long endurance airship integrated with advanced sensor payloads being built by Mav6 for the U.S. Air Force. MSU’s support of the program will continue into 2012. In November 2011, the Blue Devil Block II System was named a winner in Popular Science magazine’s 24th annual “Best of What’s New” in the Aviation and Space category. Designed to stay aloft for 5 days at 20,000 feet altitude carrying a 2,500 pound payload, the airship is equipped with advanced sensor, processing, and communications capabilities that will gather, filter, tag, and organize data in the air and transmit data of interest to analysts on the ground. When it flies in 2012, the 370-foot Mav6 M1400 airship used on the Blue Devil Block 2 effort will be the largest unmanned aircraft ever to fly.
Mav6 was established in May 2007 by Major General Buford “Buff” Blount, USA (Retired), and Mr. Adam Jay Harrison to fill a need in the global defense and security market for rapidly conceived, concept-to-implementation technology solutions to emerging global security challenges. Inc. Magazine recently named Vicksburg, Mississippi-based Mav6 to the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing privately owned companies in the United States.
