Dash-cam footage appears to show Ottawa gunman

Video recorded on a dashboard camera outside the Canadian parliament on Wednesday appears to show suspected gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau moments before the shootings began.

The footage, recorded at 9:51 a.m., shows a man, believed to be Zehaf-Bibeau, getting into a car parked across the street from Parliament Hill. Zehaf-Bibeau, a 32-year-old from Quebec, stormed parliament and opened fire before being fatally wounded by sergeant-at-arms Kevin Vickers before he could reach the caucus rooms.

Dramatic footage of the gunfire at Centre Hill was captured on amateur video.

Earlier, Zehaf-Bibeau killed a soldier standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

The soldier was later identified as Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, a 25-year-old with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Video from the scene showed emergency responders performing CPR on Cirillo and loading him into an ambulance.

According to the Globe and Mail, Zehaf-Bibeau was "recently designated a 'high-risk traveler'" by the Canadian government, which pulled his passport.

Earlier this month, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced that they were investigating 63 national security cases and 90 inidividuals with potential links to terrorism.
