Video Diary: The 2012 Election and the Supreme Court

The Next President Can Influence the Supreme Court for Decades

Yahoo Contributor Network

Yahoo News asked voters to briefly explain -- in a video diary -- why their candidate deserves to be the next president. Here's one voter's perspective.

The media has practically ignored the fact that our next president, whoever it may be, will most likely have the job of nominating at least two if not more Supreme Court Justices. Justice Ginsberg is 79 and has health concerns, Justices Scalia and Kennedy are 76, and Justice Breyer is 74. President Obama's previous two nominations of Justices Kagan and Sotomayor show his desire to have a very liberal Supreme Court. Romney will nominate at least moderate, and hopefully more conservative justices, to the highest court in the land. I feel that this is one of the most important issues in this election. Thus I plan on voting for Romney on Nov. 6.
