Video: ‘Firenado’ caused after lightning strikes bourbon-filled pond near Jim Beam facility

Kentucky is well known for its bourbon, but what happens when that bourbon spills into a lake… and then the lake catches fire? The Weather Channel has posted a video showing exactly that happening near a Jim Beam warehouse that got struck by lightning. The strike apparently caused thousands of gallons of bourbon to spill into a nearby retention pond, which itself got struck by lightning and resulted in a massive “firenado” breaking out.

“You have to have the exact right conditions for something like this to happen: A body of water with a flammable substance on top and weather conditions that whip the fire into a funnel,” The Weather Channel explains. “Fortunately the pond kept the fire from spreading. It took quite an effort, the fire was put out.”
