Any Video for Kik Free review

Any Video for Kik Free enables you to share self-recorded videos through Kik, a popular social platform and chat app, but it didn't let us upload any videos from our gallery that had not been recorded with the app's built-in camera.

Pros

Smooth integration with Kik: Any Video for Kik Free introduces a new way of sharing videos with friends and family that's faster than email and more private than YouTube. Your shared videos appear as private files in the Kik chat window, which only one other user can view. Since the recording process is effortless -- just tap record to capture frames -- it can be used as a quick way to exchange video messages or share precious moments with your loved ones whenever you're away from home.

Appealing UI and video gallery: You can record as many videos as you want; they will appear as thumbnails and be sorted chronologically in an easy-to-browse gallery within the app. Tapping on any of them plays them.

Cons

Won't let you upload videos from your gallery: While the app can easily share videos you record through its built-in camera, in our tests it failed to recognize any of the videos on our device regardless of their format. Judging from Google Play comments left by other users, this appears to be a problem confined to this version.

Somewhat awkward: You have to keep switching between this app and the Kik messenger in order to share or play shared videos. The need to process recorded videos before sharing them, which can take anywhere from a few seconds to well over a minute for longer videos, and the occasional black screens during playback further increase the app's awkwardness.

Bottom Line

For Kik fans, Any Video for Kik Free turns out to be a useful little app, a quicker and more effective way to privately share videos with friends and family. That said, it comes with the inconvenience of being a separate app rather than a built-in feature of Kik, which decreases its usability. Still, it's functional enough to be a worthwhile download, provided that you use Kik already.
