AMC Offers Peek At Season 5 Of 'Walking Dead'
Here's something to whet Walking Dead fans' appetites: a photo from the upcoming Season 5. In the photo, a bloody Rick Grimes appears to be looking out from the rail car where he and his band of survivors were trapped by the mysterious denizens of Terminus at the end of Season 4. Walking Dead, a ratings phenomenon, drew 15.7 million viewers and 10.2 million young adults for the season finale. Production for Season 5 is taking place in Atlanta and the show will return in October on AMC.

Star Of Syfy's Zombie Show 'Z Nation' Explains Why It's Not 'The Walking Dead'
As Syfy's newest zombie drama Z Nation has learned, saying the Z-word is a bold move in an era that has seen the meteoric rise of AMC's The Walking Dead. But DJ Qualls, who stars in the drama premiering tonight, isn't worried about the comparisons. "We don't feel any sort of competition," he says. "We have similar subjects but we're completely different." Qualls' character, nicknamed Citizen Z, is one example of exactly that. On the show, the actor plays a man who's trapped at a National Security Agency listening post in the Arctic, out of reach of the zombie apocalypse and set up with years-worth of supplies.

The Walking Dead Companion Series Officially Ordered To Pilot At AMC—More Zombies For All!
The Walking Dead spinoff—sorry, "companion series"—is going to pilot at AMC. The network announced Robert Kirkman, the co-creator of the comic book series, and Dave Erickson will co-create the companion series to The Walking Dead. The new show will be set in a different location with a new cast of characters. Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are also on board as executive producers. Erickson will serve as showrunner.

'Walking Dead' Marine Battalion To Be Deactivated
Decades before the television show, a Marine Corps battalion decorated for extensive combat in World War II and Vietnam earned the nickname the "Walking Dead." Now the 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, which also saw action in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been deactivated during a ceremony Friday at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Marine Corps historians say the battalion appears to have gotten the nickname because of its high rate of casualties during the Vietnam War.

Laverne Cox: It Feels "So Good" Having A Diverse Cast On Orange Is The New Black
It's no secret Orange Is the New Black has found tremendous success on the small screen. And for star Laverne Cox, it's so much sweeter knowing that such a diverse cast makes up the popular series. Cox recalls in the October issue of Essence magazine, "At one point I looked around and I said, ‘I don't think anybody is going to go for this, but this is wonderful.' It felt so good. Lo and behold, people really did go for it in a really big way." Of the nearly 30 new series premiering this fall, 11 will have an African-American female actress featured prominently in the show. Joining Cox on the gorgeous "Channel Changers" cover of Essence is Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow), Alfre Woodward (State of Affairs) and Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead). All four ladies admit America's demographic is changing.

The Walking Dead 's Daryl Dixon may or may not be gay. What we know is this: The Walking Dead won't declare one way or another anytime soon. In an interview with TVLine , executive producer and showrunner Scott Gimple said Daryl's (played by Norman Reedus ) sexual orientation "is not really addressed" in season five of the hit AMC drama. However, The Walking Dead does plan on introducing a gay male character.
