Big Shake-Up At The NAACP

Bad weather across the country kept many members of the NAACP from making it to their annual meeting in Manhattan on Saturday. Most conspicuously absent was Myrlie Evers-Williams. The widow of slain civil rights activist Medgar Evers was to formally step down from the NAACP`s board on Saturday. "We just love her dearly at the NAACP for her commitment and for how she`s carried on since the death of her husband," said Hazel Dukes, president of the NAACP`s New York chapter.
