U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday that it would be "deeply troubling" if Russia or Hong Kong had adequate notice about Edward Snowden's plans to flee to a country that will grant him asylum and still allowed him leave. The Lebanese National News Agency reports 12 soldiers have been killed. Lebanese army units battling followers of a hard-line Sunni Muslim cleric closed in on a mosque complex where armed supporters of the cleric were holed up. This is the latest bout of violence in Lebanon linked to the conflict in neighboring Syria. Bobby "Blue" Bland, a distinguished singer who blended Southern blues and soul in songs such as "Turn on Your Love Light" and "Further On Up the Road," died at age 83. Bland suffered from complications from an ongoing illness.
