Dashcam footage from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, east of Miami and including the Everglades and Keys, shows both sides of a shootout on Stock Island in which Deputy Josh Gordon is hit in the chest. At the 1:01 mark, a man identified as Timothy Thomas gets out of his car with a hand raised, then opens fire. The second video at the 1:09 mark shows Gordon returning fire from the ground after being hit.

Thomas, 25, escaped custody the night of the shooting and was on the run for a day before his arrest at a Key West home on October 25, the Miami Herald reported. He sustained two gunshot wounds. Gordon was not seriously wounded.
