The judge is an idiot. The judge should have thrown this stupid lawsuit out of court or fined the soon to be ex wife for filing such a stupid suit. Free speech where art thou????

I'm confused. He just posted a picture.. Its the comments that got him in trouble. So how is it his fault?

they didnt say what the comments said maybe she took him to court for slander and if not I doubt the judge could do anything but the story is so vague no one knows

he violated a civil protection order against him

H stated that he was using facebook to 'vent' about his wife - his comments, that he posted, are what got him into trouble. Free speech has limits. You cannot defame someone - it's called slander and libel.

Be careful what you say on here; a judge might make you apologize to this woman too. This is such a ridiculous violation of rights.

The judge in this case should be disbarred for violationing the first amenmant rights of the individual. He/she is a mindless powermonger in my opinion.

If you care about your kids do not post your personal life on facebook. if he had problems with his visitation rights there are other more secure ways to achieve his goals.

I signed up a few years ago for Facebook to see what it was like without giving my real name or any personal information. I tried it for a few days and decided I was nervous about putting my information out there for anyone to see.

All of my friends laughed at me and said I was paranoid. Now many of them were telling me they really regret ever signing up, and they worry about the fact that their information is now forever out there.

There are a few details missing from this story undoubtedly. Am I going to troll Facebook to get the scoop on his drama...no. Do I care about his bad choices and inability to deal with his life...nada. First Amendment is one thing...slander with be dealt with, to be sure. This guy needs to grow up.

It was HIS facebook, HIS friends, HIS feelings and his soon-to-be EX-wife is BLOCKED. If you don't like what it says, don't read it. The KKK has many websites dedicated to hate; I don't like it so I don't read it. We are all protected by the 1st Amendment. You may not like it but it's our freedom. You can't protect only those that are PC or the point of freedom of speech becomes a mockery.

The problem lies in that Facebook is a public site. That being the case it means that if what you have on there is found to be offensive, threatening, etc to someone they have the right to seek legal counsel. The conundrum is the fine line between violating the first amendment and protecting the rights of others.

Slander is spoken false statements. Libel is written false statements.

Story did not outline what he said that was ruled inappropriate, but almost all divorcing couples could charge slander or libel.
