While some of Hollywood’s heavyweights gathered for the Oscars on Sunday, February 28, directors Ryan Coogler and Ava DuVernay and others raised money in Flint, Michigan.

Blackout for Human Rights, which DuVernay and Coogler helped found, organized the JusticeForFlint event to raise awareness and money for the Michigan city plagued by the water contamination emergency. Robert Glasper, Janelle Monae, Ledisi, Musiq Soulchild, hip-hop artists Jon Connor, Vic Mensa, Royce da 5’9, and Denaun Porter were expected to perform, according to local media.
