'Desert festival' showcasing Rajasthan's rich heritage pulls huge crowd

Hundreds of western and domestic tourists on Sunday flocked to the golden city of India, Jaisalmer, to witness the annual three-day 'Desert festival' showcasing the rich cultural ethos of the region. Traditional dances, colourful costumes, folk music and unique competitions presented a perfect ambience for a flamboyant desert festival. The fiesta commenced on February 23 and will conclude on February 25. Organised by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, the annual desert festival is held every year in Jaisalmer, about 450 kilometres from the pink city Jaipur.
