Family Of New Haven Homicide Victim Speaks Out

A quick arrest in this week`s New Haven homicide didn`t come easy. Yesterday a swat team was called in to surround the suspect , and the victim`s familiy is now expressing relief that it all ended with an arrest. There was an emotional announcement today by police about the apprehension of this suspect, but what was even more heartwrenching were the words from family members this afternoon. The victim`s nephew bravely spoke to reporters this afternoon at New Haven police headquarters as investigators announced the arrest of the man who led officers on a chase and standoff. It all began Monday night when police say Shaune Meyers gunned down 31-year-old Qusaan "QB" McKoy near the intersection of Chapel street and Derby avenue. Police say Meyers shot McKoy multiple times and later died at Yale-New Haven Medical Center. Wednesdasy afternoon shortly before 3:30 officers spotted the alleged gunman and engaged him in a firefight and pursuit which ended in a standoff on Norton street. The suspect would later surrender to police, who this afternoon say it was a community effort to capture this suspect.
