Mesmo assim a autoridade monetária classificou o crescimento como “moderado". O desempenho positivo foi devido às vendas nas festas de fim de ano, que foram um pouco maiores que as de 2011. O que contribuiu negativamente foram os estragos provocados pela supertempestade Sandy, no final de outubro.
