IOA to go ahead with elections, defies IOC

The International Olympic Association (IOA) has today defied the IOC's diktat to hold the polls under the Olympic Charter and decided to go ahead with the elections under the government s Sports Code today. The IOC had announced the open-ended suspension on Tuesday after a meeting at its Swiss headquarters, saying the Indian federation had "failed to comply to the Olympic charter". It had also said that the IOA is not entitled to hold any election until all pending issues are resolved. However, IOA's acting president Vijay Kumar Malhotra has said that they would send a delegation to talk to IOC and hoped to make IOC understand IOA's point.
