Justice Department Strikes Deal With Montana Prosecutor Over Rape Cases
Prosecutors in Missoula, Montana, will improve their treatment of rape victims and allow the state attorney general to review any sexual assault cases they decline to pursue as part of an agreement with the U.S. Justice Department released on Tuesday. The deal between Missoula County Attorney Fred Van Valkenburg and federal authorities marks the end of a tense two-year inquiry into how the Missoula County Attorney's Office deals with sexual assault, amid allegations that rape cases were not properly investigated and victims treated with disrespect.
Lucy Review Roundup
Scarlett Johansson certainly seems perfect, but even she needs a little movie magic to reach superhuman status. In Lucy, that's what happens, but it's not as cool and glam as it sounds. A gang uses her character, the titular Lucy, as a drug mule, and when the potent substance they placed within her begins to leak, she finds she's able to use much more than the 10 percent normal people use of the brain. The science-fiction action film, directed by Luc Besson, is not for the faint of heart, but so far, it's getting (mostly) positive critical reviews.
Photos On Facebook, Instagram Go Viral In Support Of Gaza And Israel
As fighting in Gaza continues between Israeli forces and Hamas militants, users of Instagram and Facebook are getting creative. A campaign on Instagram voices support for the Palestinians with users from around the world taking photos of the hashtag #IStandWithPalestine scribbled on hands holding their passport. Gramfeed, a website for viewing Instagram photos, shows more than 4,000 results under that hashtag — many, however, aren’t of the passport meme. In Israel, meanwhile, a very different campaign has gotten underway. A Facebook page was created on Thursday for Israeli women to show their support of the Israeli Defense Forces as the military is known — by posting erotic selfies. Many of the photos show women with “I [heart] IDF” written somewhere on their bodies.
Bose Picks A Patent Fight With Apple’s Beats Over Noise-Cancelling Headphones
According to a new report from CNBC, Bose has sued Apple-owned Beats over patents it holds related to noise-cancelling headphones. The new suit means that Apple has a brand new patent battleground, in addition to its ongoing litigation with Samsung and others. Bose alleges that Beats has infringed on 50 years’ worth of research, development and engineering of noise cancelling tech, and that its current lineup of these devices incorporates “at least 36 U.S. patents and applications,”
Medal Of Honor Recipient Accidentally Smashes NYSE Gavel
Sometimes, we just don't know our own strength. Ryan M. Pitts knows this all too well. His week started off on a high — President Obama awarded him the Medal of Honor on Monday for his outstanding service during a battle in Afghanistan, and then he was invited to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday. Pitts was visibly excited as he began to bash the ceremonial gavel. His first whack was strong, his second was even harder, but his third strike was delivered with such force that it broke the gavel handle right in half. Literally. It's cool, Pitts — they probably have a backup.

Shaq -- RAP AUDITION FOR PHARELL ... Put Me On The NBA 2K15 Soundtrack!!!
Shaquille O'Neal wants to get back in the rap game for real and he's so serious, he just made a freestyle rap audition video for Pharrell. In the video Shaq rhymes the word "platinum" with something else that can't be repeated. Its sort of gibberishy. While the freestyle isn't quite on "Tell Me How My Ass Tastes" levels of epicness, its not far off.
Ukraine Releases Audio Implicating Rebels In Downing Of MH17
Ukraine ’s Security Service on Friday released audio from a phone conversation it says it recorded between two Russian-backed rebels that proves the group is behind the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 . In the tapped phone call — which the security service, known as the SBU, claims to have been made a mere two minutes before the Boeing 777 was purportedly shot out of the sky by a rocket, killing 298 people on July 17 — a rebel fighter tells his commander that a “bird” is flying toward his position.
