Khalistan ideology has no takers

People from different religions - Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims and Christians - all visit Poanta Sahib Gurudwara in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh to pay obeisance. Despite attempts to divide people there is unity and harmony among people of India that enables them to fight off all threats. It's a fitting response to separatists who demand a separate homeland based on religion. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Punjab was hit by a Pakistan sponsored separatist insurgency. It claimed some 12,000 lives and affected the state's development. However, peace returned to Punjab as people rejected the demand for Khalistan. Today the state is prospering.
