The Windows app store has a problem: it’s full of garbage. For every popular app, there’s a dozen-plus apps trying their damnedest to trick the user into buying it. But many of the apps on the Windows Store went far beyond being tacky conceptual clones; many of them didn’t even bother to create new icons, or come up with new names beyond changing a few characters. Microsoft says that the new rules will impact all future app submissions and updates, but that they’re also going back through and re-reviewing their catalog as quickly as they can. To date, they’ve killed off about 1,500 apps.
Cops Crewmember Accidently Killed By Police During Robbery
A crew member on a US police reality TV show has been shot and killed after Nebraska police opened fire on a robbery suspect. Police said, Bryce Dion, 38, was wearing a bulletproof vest but the bullet that hit him "slipped into a gap" in the arm and entered his chest. Police also killed the robbery suspect, Cortez Washington, who was on parole from prison. Cops is a long-running US television series that follows police officers while they are on-duty. Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said, Washington fired a pellet gun, which police and witnesses thought was a real weapon.

A pro-Russian rebel leader in eastern Ukraine has said 3-4,000 Russian citizens are fighting in their ranks. Alexander Zakharchenko told Russian TV many of the Russians were former service people or current personnel on leave. He was speaking as rebels threatened to take the key port of Mariupol, after opening a new front in the south-east. Reports say they have captured the town of Novoazovsk and are advancing on the port.

As Croatia's Ivan Dodig knows all too well after his 2014 Grand Slam season, you can't win if you can't finish. At the Australian Open in January, he stopped playing in the fourth set of his second-round match, citing cramps. At the French Open in May — shortly after he said he injured his ribs at a tournament in Rome — Dodig lasted all of four games before quitting in the first round. 'Cops' Crew Member Killed In Omaha Police Shooting
Police officers who opened fire while disrupting a robbery at a fast-food restaurant in Omaha killed a crew member with the TV show "Cops" as well as the suspect, who was armed with a pellet gun that they thought was a real handgun, authorities said Wednesday. The suspect fired from the pellet gun before officers returned fire. He said witnesses and officers thought the robbery suspect's Airsoft handgun looked and sounded real, but discovered later that it fires only plastic pellets.
