Lebanese Army Released Video Showing Recapture of Arsal Positions
The Lebanese Army released footage on August 4 showing the recapture of a military base in Arsal, which was seized by Islamist militants. The incursion into eastern Lebanon by members of the two radical Sunni groups – the Islamic State (formerly known as ISIS) and al-Nusra – is the most intense fighting that has spilled over the Syrian border since the conflict began.
The Lebanese government sent army reinforcements into the town after clashes left at least 14 soldiers and 50 militants dead. The army had previously reported a siege on the town over the weekend. Credit: Lebanese Army
