In an emotional speech, she said she sees the vote result "as a huge obligation and responsibility to Lithuania.
Immigrants Found In Back Of Locked Rental Truck
Federal officials say the discovery of nine immigrants who were locked inside the cargo area of a rental truck at a Border Patrol checkpoint in southern Arizona highlights the dangers of human smuggling. Customs and Border Protection says the incident Thursday at a checkpoint on Interstate 19 near Amado was a potentially deadly smuggling attempt because of summer heat and because there was no source or fresh air or means of escape.

U.S. Existing Home Sales Rise At Fastest Pace In 10 Months
Americans resold their homes in July at the fastest pace in almost a year, a sign the housing market was gaining steam again after a year-long slump. The National Association of Realtors said on Thursday existing home sales increased 2.4 percent to an annual rate of 5.15 million units. That was above analysts' expectations and marked the fourth straight month the pace of home resales accelerated.
Storytelling App Steller Becomes More Of A Social Network
A beautifully designed mobile storytelling app Steller was introduced earlier this year to deliver on a simple premise: that our smartphones can do more than serve as our cameras or a quick way to post images to social networks like Facebook or Instagram, they’re also capable of being creative devices. Today, the company is rolling out an upgraded version of its application, with Steller 2.0, an update that pushes the app more into social networking territory, with features like comments, @mentions, hashtags, search and other changes. The app allows you to turn your photos and videos into stories, using a set of simple tools, designed from the ground-up for mobile devices.
Mother Of US Journalist Foley Says Never Prouder Of Son
Friends, relatives and colleagues have paid tribute to American journalist James Foley, executed by Islamic State jihadists. Condolences and shocked messages poured in after the Islamist group released a video of Foley's beheading late Tuesday, including from French journalists who revealed they had been held alongside him in the past year. Foley, 40, had been missing since he was seized in Syria in November, 2012. Foley's mother Diane told reporters outside their New Hampshire home, "We're very proud of him. He was a courageous, fearless journalist, a very compassionate American. He was just a hero."
'Blackfish' Director Talks SeaWorld Revenue Drop: "People Are Truly Willing To Change Ethically"
SeaWorld's second-quarter earnings continued a recent dive, but whether the decline is due to Blackfish -- last summer's controversial documentary about killer whales in captivity -- has become its own controversy. On Aug. 13, SeaWorld Entertainment reported year-to-date losses of 5 percent in revenue and a 4.3 percent slide in attendance, with second-quarter revenue down 1 percent and attendance up 0.3 percent.
How The Human Brain Gets Its Wrinkles
A new study shows that the reason our brains have that wrinkly, walnut shape may be that the rapid growth of the brain's outer brain, the gray matter, is constrained by the white matter. According to the study published today, researchers found that the particular pattern of the ridges and crevices of the brain's convoluted surface, which are called gyri and sulci, depends on two simple geometric parameters: the gray matter's growth rate and its thickness. The development of the brain's wrinkles can be mimicked in a lab using a double-layer gel.
Estately Launches Flip, A Tinder For Real Estate
One of the annoyances of online real estate search is that you often see the exact same house pop up day after day, even though it is a run-down shack (“rustic with good bones”) in a not so nice (“up and coming”) neighborhood with a concrete yard (“low maintenance”). Estately wants to free you from that and it’s appropriating Tinder’s swipe gestures to help you hide those “fixer-uppers” from your next searches. To be fair, Zillow, Redfin and most other competing apps also give you the option hide homes from your searches, but none of those are as much fun and satisfying as using the new Flip feature in Estately’s app.
