At the Microsoft Build 2013 keynote in San Francisco, Chief Executive Steve Ballmer wanted everyone to know that Microsoft is not a lumbering giant. "We're transitioning from a software company to a company that's building software, devices and services," Ballmer said. "And the only way we can do that is to adopt a rapid product release cadence. This is fundamental to what we're doing and what we must to do to mobilize our ecosystem and our partners." One aspect of the Windows 8.1 update is the new Food and Drink app. The app provides easy access to recipes, ingredients, grocery lists and more, but it also uses your device?s camera to operate a hands-free mode that lets you scroll through recipe steps with swipe gestures that don?t require touching the actual screen Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer highlighted the return of the start button on Windows 8 at its Build developers conference in San Francisco, getting a round of applause from the audience
