clashed outside the Minneapolis Police Department’s fourth precinct on November 18. The clashes came within hours of police pushing back protesters who had been occupying the precinct following the fatal shooting of Jamar Clark while he was in police custody. Protesters are calling for the release of the video of the incident.Media reported that police sprayed pepper spray at protesters twice, which can be seen in this video. A group of protesters broke off from those at the police precinct and went to the mayor’s house in an attempt to defuse the situation. They were met by Mayor Betsy Hodge’s husband, who let them inside the house but would not tell them where the mayor was. The same group met with the mayor on Thursday. Clark was shot during an altercation with police early Sunday morning. He was suspected of assaulting a woman and accused of interfering with paramedics attempting to assist the victim. He was taken off life support on Monday and died on Tuesday. The coroner issued a report saying Clark died of a gunshot wound to the head and classified the shooting as a “homicide.” The protesters have been demanding the release of video of the incident. Mayor Betsy Hodges wrote on Facebook that she could not release the video because of an ongoing investigation by state and federal officials. State officials identified the two officers on Wednesday as Mark Ringgenberg, 30, an officer for seven years with 13 months at the Minneapolis department, and Dustin Schwarze, 28, who also has been an officer for seven years with 13 months in Minneapolis.
