Myanmar To Cooperate With Human Rights Group
Myanmar President, U Thein Sein, vowed Wednesday to cooperate with an independent human rights monitoring group. U Thein Sein made the remarks when he met with the group made up of three representatives from Human Rights Watch, David Matthison, Brad Adams and Phil Robertson, Xinhua reported. The president said he wished to cooperate with the group in addition to the UN Human Rights Commission and UN Human Rights Council after his government took office in March 2011 and worked closely with the United Nations. The group also expressed willingness to cooperate with Myanmar in its reform process.

Obama's DOT Proposes Tougher Oil Train Safety Rules
Spurred by a boom in oil-carrying trains and several recent tragic accidents, the Obama administration proposed stricter rules Wednesday for rail cars that transport flammable fuels. U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced speed limits for trains carrying these fuels, mandatory testing of oil and other volatile liquids as well as design standards for tanks cars and their brakes. He called for the phaseout of older tank cars, some of which were built in the 1960s, Members of Congress, including Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., have held hearings and urged DOT to issue tougher rules, citing the increased use of rail cars to transport crude.
US Pushes For Truce As Gaza Battle Rages
Israeli troops battled Hamas militants on Wednesday near a southern Gaza Strip town as the top U.S. diplomat reported progress in efforts to broker a truce in a war that has so far killed at least 684 Palestinians and 31 Israelis. But neither side appeared close to backing down, after Palestinian rocket fire led several international airlines to cancel flights to Tel Aviv and Israeli troops clashed with Hamas fighters near the Gaza town of Khan Younis, forcing dozens of families to flee.

Kayakers Lifted Out Of Water: 'We're On Top Of The Whale!'
Here's a whale of a tale. Two kayakers in Argentina came in extremely close contact with a few southern right whales before their boat was lifted up by one of the mammals. The duo captured the event on a GoPro camera and uploaded the incredible footage to YouTube. One of the kayakers can even be heard yelling in Spanish saying, "We’re on top of the whale, we’re on top of the whale!"
Apple's Latest Earnings Report Hints At New Products
Apple 's execs didn't say much on its third quarter earnings call on Tuesday about the various new products rumored to debut this fall, but the earnings report may offer some clues. In the report, Apple revealed that it spent $1.6 billion on research and development in the June quarter, up more than 30% from the same quarter a year earlier. Walter Piecyk, an analyst with BTIG, noted in a writeup that this suggests Apple is likely investing in more than just updated iPhones and iPads. RD investment topped 4% of revenue, a level it has not reached since 2006, in the quarters before the first iPhone launch.

Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego have a baby on the way! The Guardians of the Galaxy actress' publicist confirmed the pregnancy Wednesday. Saldana had been on bump watch for weeks, and she made no attempt to hide her tiny baby bump at the film's premiere. For Monday's L.A. event, the 36-year-old actress wore a Louis Vuitton that emphasized her new curves. Saldana and Perego, who got married in England last summer, have yet to comment on the baby news. The Star Trek Into Darkness star gushed about her Italian artist husband over the weekend, telling People, "We found each other, and it was that desire and not that necessity that put us together."

Lisa Vanderpump is surprisingly filming another season of RHOBH. Even though she's made it quite clear over the last few months she wasn't happy with how things turned out last season. Vanderpump said, "Yes, last season was awful... and I did feel like quitting after that. But time is a great healer and after six months, I kind of reconnected with a couple of them and I thought, 'OK, I'll go back in.'" Besides, she said, "I was under contract with Bravo…Will I regret it? I don't know." While Vanderpump declined to confirm if Lisa Rinna is joining the cast (multiple sources have told E! News she is), she is excited by the possibility saying, "I've known Lisa for 25 years. I love her and I have an authentic relationship with her…I do think she's very opinionated and vocal and I think that's a good thing for reality television or you fall asleep." As for fired Housewives Joyce Giraud and Carlton Gebbia, Vanderpump is "sad" to see them go after just one season, but she said, "I don't make the rules."
