was one of four officers acquitted in the shooting death of Amadou Diallo in 1999.The four officers were patrolling over the bay when they spotted a man and woman on Canarsie Pol Island, where their boat had been beached. The New York Daily News identified the couple as Jenny Ly, 50, and her husband, Kevin Huynh, 52, of Brooklyn. Boss rappelled from the helicopter piloted by officers Jonathan Yacoub and Lester Sanabria, according to the NYPD. Boss secured the couple before they were hoisted to the aircraft by Yacoub, who the NYPD said was the crew chief. In 1999, Boss along with Sean Carroll, Richard Murphy, and Edward McMellon shot and killed Diallo, a Guinea immigrant who was living in the Bronx. The officers believed Diallo had a gun during a confrontation and shot at him 41 times. It turned out Diallo was unarmed. Boss was promoted to sergeant last December.
