The three-day US-Africa leaders summit at the White House concluded on August 6 with US President Barack Obama saying they planned to make the event a recurring one. Nearly 50 African leaders attended the summit, which the White House said was about “fostering stronger ties between the United States and Africa”.Obama also spoke about the current Ebola outbreak, and said it was too early to send experimental Ebola medicine to affected African countries. “We’ve got to let the science guide us and I don’t think all the information is in on whether this drug is helpful,” said Obama. “The Ebola virus, both currently and in the past, is controllable if you have a strong public health infrastructure in place.” Credit: YouTube/US Department of State
