Thousands of people marched in student-organised rallies across Venezuela on February 12, calling for the release of five students arrested after weekend protests in the southwestern states of Táchira and Mérida. Protests, organised on Youth Day, which is usually a perennial celebration, marked a wave of recent discontent in Venezuela.
