Demand for your product has dropped by OVER HALF! Sorry, but that requires a smaller workforce.

Sorry that you though you would have a cushy job for life despite having ZERO job skills! But LITERALLY your job could be done by a monkey.

Little is mentioned in this article about the reason the postal service is made to apear it is losing money. The reason is it has to prepay for 75 years of health benifits. Congress and the 2006 Bush admin passed a closed door deal to make the postal service appear to be loosing money with a 75 year prepaid health care plan with is unconstatutional!!

The postal service (not the workers union of course) said "they shouldn't be a burden on the taxpayers?" #$%$ straight! Pay attention Amtrak and most of the transit agencies around the country. This has got to be the only honest government agency in existence! What to do. Raise rates to cover expenses. It's simple. It probably needs to go to 85 cents or more for any delivered mail. I want it to high enough that all the spam goes away. Quit giving spammers the sweet heart deal. That stuff really hurts the aging population not to mention environment. Those that need the mail will pay for it. If it's to much for you split an envelope with your neighbor to pay your power bill. People will figure it out!

If the Postal Service is running in the red, where are they getting the money to pay their employees? Awe from the current goods and services they are providing.. The issues is, they HAVE TO pay for the pensions too, so it is a case of paying those who worked and not retired, and paying those who are working now. Sounds like a perfect revolution, who will win?

the US Postal System is a business, it has to run like a business, it has to make a profit to stay in business. It has competition, UPS, Fed Ex, the Internet. And like all businesses that have competition, when the money isn't there, you raise prices, and/or lower expenses. The Postal Union got their benefits and these must be paid for by the Postal Service. New hires will have to take less in pay, less in benefits, and fewer jobs. That, and higher postal charges for the rest of us. Until all the perks, which very few of the rest of us enjoy, go bye bye, the post office will continue to operate in the red, and hopefully, sometime in the future, it will return to operating in the black. UNFORTUNATELY once that happens, the postal workers will start demanding more and more , until they are right back here again.

Screw the postal workers. You think they cared about the unemployed while they got their pensions and pay raises the last three recession cycles? You have priced yourself out of business now deal with it.
