Orphan Hippo Befriends Dogs
In May 2013, a two-week-old hippo was found nearly dead in Zambia. Now, a year later, that hippo’s all grown up and is being released back into the wild. This great recovery story was made possible, in part, due to a friendship with two dogs. Douglas, the orphan hippo, arrived in pretty bad shape at the Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust, a nonprofit wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park. While at CWET, Douglas met his best friends, two Jack Russell terriers, Molly and Coco. Give it up for unlikely animal friendship!
Cash-Hungry Termites Eat One Thousand Dollars
A woman in China lost a chunk of her savings after the cupboard she was storing it in was infested with termites. Cai Hou never trusted banks, so she would keep her money in a cupboard in her home in Jinjiang. So imagine her surprise when she opened the cupboard to check on her savings (10,000 Yuan, or a little over $1,600) and noticed a lot of it was gone, and the rest of it was full of holes. The culprit? Termites!
Slot Machine Pays Out $2.4M After 20 Years
An infamous slot machine in Las Vegas has finally paid out its $2.4 million jackpot after being really stingy for over 20 years. MGM Grand's legendary "The Lion's Share" progressive slot finally paid its jackpot out to two New Hampshire grandparents, after gamblers having been lining up to lose there since the 1990's. Congrats, Walter and Linda Misco! That's a lot of pennies.

Teen Pilots Make Emergency Plane Landing
18-year-olds Eric Nichols and Tanner Price were celebrating their first day back in high school by practicing flying a Cessna 172 single engine plane from Tulsa’s Riverside Airport to Tulsa International Airport. Everything was going smoothly until their plane lost power while they were just past the runway, and 100 feet in the air. Eric, who had received his pilot’s license just five days before, made an emergency landing on a country road just south of the airport. Talk about a close call!
Is This The Worst Commercial Ever?
The internet claims to have found the worst commercial of all time. The 30-second commercial advertises East Hills mall in St. Joseph, Missouri, and features actual mall employees singing a jingle in front of their stores. The video was uploaded to Youtube less than a week ago, with the title “Terrible Mall Commercial,” and has already garnered well over a million hits. What do you think? Python Lives In Family's Home For A Week
Rachel Leck says that all week strange things were happening at her home in Midland, Ontario. One morning, Rachel woke up to find a lamp had been knocked over, once a set of wine glasses were knocked out of place, and another time, some decorations had fallen off the wall. Rachel says, “We thought we had a ghost. It was totally bizarre.” Well, it turns out that ghost was actually 9 foot Burmese Python.
Fantasy League Loser Poses For Hilarious Calendar
In some Fantasy football leagues the only penalty for losing is being out some money, but for Henry Stern, the penalty was so much more embarrassing. He had to pose for this ridiculous calendar. Henry has been playing fantasy football for almost a decade with friends from college in a league where the loser has to do something embarrassing. Mom, Son Both Find Mammoth Tusks 22 Years Apart
22 years ago, Luann and Brian Harrelson were trawling in a bend of the Fish River near White Mountain, Alaska, when they saw what looked like a strange, smooth log. Well, imagine their surprise, when the smooth log turned out to a 79-pound woolly mammoth tusk. Luann took a picture with the valuable artifact and her 3-year-old son, Andrew, before selling the tusk. 22 years later, Andrew and his fiancé were on the same bend in the Fish River this week when they found a Woolly Mammoth tusk of their own. Amazing discoveries in the same place found 22 years apart by the same family - incredible!
