Air France Pilots Take Strike To The Streets, In Uniform
A demonstration in the streets of Paris is far from unusual, but one of the longest-running airline strikes in France in years brought a rare sight on Tuesday: Pilots protesting in uniform. The pilots were demanding the government intervene to bring the now eight-day strike and deadlock to an end. About 200 Air France pilots on strike demonstrated in front of France's National Assembly; pilots waved placards, wore stickers declaring that they were "united for our future," and handed out pro-union T-shirts. Air France-KLM, the parent company of Air France Airlines, says about half of all Air France flights have been cancelled since the strike started, and that each day is costing as much as $25 million.

Movies Bust Out Of Screen With Panoramic, Virtual Technology
Imagine being able to watch the sunrise in mere seconds, watch a day pass you by in under a minute with the sun setting as fast as you can snap your fingers. Now imagine this is all happening all around you in a movie theater, courtesy of Oculus Rift goggles. They promise a glimpse into the future where movies break out of the flat screen. Virtual reality, which immerses viewers in 360-degree worlds long used in video games, is drawing top Hollywood filmmakers and studios such as Twenty-First Century Fox and Disney. And soon you could even bring home this technology -- when it comes to the consumer mass market within two years. Oculus, the company behind this innovation was acquired by Facebook this year for 2 billion dollars. Of course there are still some technological hurdles to overcome. The biggest problem is that some users develop motion sickness, which Oculus believes it is close to resolving. And as Hollywood directors try to figure out how to create 360-degree scenes, it remains unclear if audiences will want to spend two hours in a virtual world, or just visit for shorter experiences.

Argentina's August Trade Surplus Jumps; Masks Export Slump
Argentina's trade surplus leapt 145 percent in August from the same month a year earlier to $899 million, though a 12 percent fall in exports highlighted the ailing health of Latin America's third biggest economy which is in recession. Imports fell 20 percent to $5.7 billion as the government tightened trade controls to defend its dwindling hard currency reserves after it defaulted on its debt again in late July and consumer demand weakened. Argentine exports, which fell 12 percent year-on-year to $6.60 billion, have been hurt by low global grains prices and a recession in Brazil, Argentina's main trading partner.
