U.S. Senate Shortens Transport Extension, Sets Up Clash With House
The U.S. Senate on Tuesday approved an $8.1 billion extension of federal funding for transportation projects through the end of 2014, setting up a clash with the House of Representatives just days ahead of cutbacks in money for road, bridge and transit construction. The Democratic-controlled Senate had been considering a House-passed measure for a longer-term extension through May 2015, but reduced the amount of money with the aim of forcing Congress to approve a long-term transport funding bill during its post-election "lame duck" session in November.

A leading doctor who risked his own life to treat dozens of Ebola patients died Tuesday from the disease, officials said, as a major regional airline announced it was suspending flights to the cities hardest hit by an outbreak that has killed more than 670 people. Dr. Sheik Humarr Khan, who was praised as a national hero for treating the disease in Sierra Leone, was confirmed dead by health ministry officials there. He had been hospitalized in quarantine. Argentine Economy Minister In New York For Last Ditch Talks
Argentine Economy Minister Axel Kicillof unexpectedly arrived in New York on Tuesday to join last-minute debt negotiations with "holdout" investors in a bid to avert a default. After a long battle in the U.S. courts, Argentina has until the end of Wednesday to either pay in full the hedge funds that rejected its restructuring on their defaulted bonds, cut a deal or win a stay of the court order that triggered the deadline. Argentina's isolation from global credit markets since its 2002 default on $100 billion means a default would be highly unlikely to cause financial turmoil abroad, but it would hurt a domestic economy already in recession.

The Oscar winner had summertime chic down to a fine art in her sexy Wes Gordon midi dress from the designer's resort 2015 collection, while the Coldplay frontman went for something decidedly more casual and wore a navy sweatshirt and jeans. But it's not like this is the very first time we've seen the two together since announcing that they were separating earlier this year.

The sister of "Big Brother" contestant Jocasta Odom is tearing cast member Frankie Grande to shreds for saying Jocasta " can kill herself." Frankie's back stab stung hard because Jocasta, a pastor, just performed a memorial service for his recently deceased grandfather. Miranda Chelsea, Jocasta's sis, tells TMZ, "It was an ignorant statement and the little respect I had for him just went out the window." And the parting shot, "It shows the lack of maturity he has." Whatever sympathy Frankie had built up this past week has now quickly gone away and it only took 13 seconds of footage to do it.
