A Hawaii art collector has been on a mission for 27 years to prove that his painting is an authentic Mark Rothko, but Rothko's heirs have resisted his efforts. Part of the mystery lies in a note on the back of the painting, which Douglas Himmelfarb first spotted at an auction preview in Los Angeles in 1987. "Mark Rothko, Cal School of Fine Arts, EX No. 7." After decades of research Himmelfarb maintains that's proof his painting is real. But his battle is not yet over. A fortune is on the line -- last year a Rothko sold for over $80 million at auction. One million endangered orchids to be planted in South Florida
In an effort to resurrect orchid populations in South Florida, researchers and botanists plan to germinate and plant one million of the critically endangered plants over the next five years.
