The Tank Biathlon World Championships were held near Moscow on August 4, featuring teams from the former USSR as well as Russia’s allies. According to reports on the event, teams compete with Russian-made T-72B tanks in a 20 kilometer obstacle course and shoot at a set of targets. Russia also used the event as an opportunity to show off military aircrafts including helicopters and fighter jets.

The competition comes at a time when Russia’s diplomatic relationship with the US and European countries is highly strained.
