UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Monday held meetings with Iraqi leaders and urged them to deal with the root cause of the violence in Anbar province. At a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Xinhua quoted Ban as saying, "I would urge the Iraqi leaders to address the root that causes the problem. They should ensure that nobody was left behind to reach a political cohesion, social cohesion and inclusive political dialogue."
'World Of Warcraft' Source Code May Reveal A Robin Williams Tribute
Fans may have discovered Blizzard's plans to memorialize actor Robin Williams in World of Warcraft by examining an upcoming expansion to the game. Gaming site Wowhead discovered three character models named Robin in the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion for the massively multiplayer online game. The other models include a man and an older woman — a possible Mrs. Doubtfire reference — both named Robin. A petition requesting Blizzard to create a memorial in Williams' honor in WoW , one of the late actor's favorite games, was created shortly after his death, and received more than 10,000 signatures in 24 hours.
Instagram Rolls Out Deeper Analytics For Advertisers
Instagram launched a suite of deeper analytics for advertisers on Thursday that are targeted to offer greater visibility into how their campaigns are performing on the network. The new metrics, like impressions, reach and engagement, will provide data to marketers almost in real time. The Facebook-owned photo platform plans to roll out the program to all potential advertisers in the coming months. The metrics are not only for advertising, but for organic posts as well.
Majority Of Digital Media Consumption Now Takes Place In Mobile Apps
According to a new study released by comScore Thursday morning, U.S. users are now spending the majority of their time consuming digital media within mobile applications. That means mobile apps, including the number 1 most popular app Facebook, eat up more of our time than desktop usage or mobile web surfing, accounting for 52% of the time spent using digital media.
Justin Bieber's Entourage Accused Of Bribing Canadian Border Officials
A Canadian border official has been fired for allegedly accepting a $10,000 bribe in return for allowing members of Justin Bieber's entourage with criminal records to enter Canada. Bieber's camp reportedly gave a female officer at the Niagra Falls border thousands of dollars in backstage passes to get members of his posse into the country while he performed. Canada has a strict policy on not allowing people with certain types of criminal records to enter. It's unclear when the alleged bribes went down ... but Justin performed 2 shows in Toronto last year.
Report: Tumblr Is Growing, But Not Helping Yahoo's Bottom Line
Yahoo does not have a traffic problem. Neither does Tumblr . Yahoo does have an ad problem, though — and it's not clear whether Tumblr can do much to fix that. Those are the takeaways from a new report from eMarketer in its first forecast of Tumblr's users and advertising prospects. Martin Utreras, senior forecasting analyst at eMarketer, wrote in the press release, because Tumblr's user base is not directly correlated with ad views, slowing growth is not a bell tolling for Yahoo's demise.
