      There's a rule about shooting.

No there isn't Taxidermist, as long as you have a permit for the weapon. If something is hovering over your property and you shoot it? No law on the books for that. Not yet...

      Repost:

--You aren't going to shoot anything down with a shotgun that has a flight altitude of more than a couple hundred feet (which almost all drones for spying purposes will/ do have). And that's if you could even hear it, or see it (which you would not).

-- Nothing is going to be found over "your airspace". If you take a basic look at the camera technology of even the most crude drone, you'll find that they don't need to be close to do their dirty work. They don't need to be anywhere near your house or "your airspace". They can be two miles away and spy on you, and you'd never know it.

I wonder how my pellet gun will work on the first one of these I see over my place?

Yeah, but then the police do have an excuse to arrest me, if I use a real gun. Where I live, an airgun is a misdemeanor at best, and that is if I put a person in danger.

I would be fun shooting these things down if they violate my air space.

On Feb 6, 2012, in the FCC Order DA 12-123, the FCC granted public safety agencies the authority to deploy and operate the surveillance robot known as the “Recon Scout” for public safety purposes. This IS happening in the United States. The list of agencies that will be deploying these "drones" are City, County and State Police/Sheriff Departments. If you don't like the idea of the Government (Local, State or Federal) spying on you, then you need to visit your representatives and let them know. It is time to hold our Government accountable to its people.

So in your home it is possible to turn the camera in your computer on and you not know it, all cell phone calls are recorded and monitored and your use of the net is open to anybody to track. Outside your home there are more and more security cameras everywhere you go and now there will be drones watching you in your own back yard.
Why is it that everytime somebody comes up with a "better" way to protect me, it always makes me feel less safe?

If there are no rules then if you see one being used to watch you them we have no laws telling me i can't shoot one out off the sky!
  • mr teg  •  Cincinnati, Ohio  •  3 mths ago
Nothing a 12 gauge shotgun won't take care of. If i saw one of these flying over my property i wouldn't think twice about blowing it out of the sky.

This is OLD news, this stuff has been available to RC'ers for years, but not necessarily as a complete kit, so you had to do some DIY. Not to worry, pellet guns are legal where I live :)
