On December 15, the United States Coast Guard unveiled more than 26.5 tons of cocaine which had been seized in the eastern Pacific Ocean over two months. The Coast Guard said it was one of the largest drug-offloads in its history.

The ongoing operations that yielded the contraband were a joint project of the Coast Guard and the Royal Canadian Navy, as well as numerous government agencies including the Department of Defense.
