The US Coast Guard released video on May 17 showing the rescue the previous day of the French solo sailor Olivier Jehl around 90 miles off Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Jehl was attempting a solo voyage from New York to the United Kingdom aboard a 21-foot sailboat and was rescued by crews from Cape Cod and Atlantic City after his vessel hit a submerged object and began sinking, the Coast Guard said. The sailor, who was described by the Coast Guard as “very prepared”, deployed an emergency raft and used an emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) and flares to alert the Coast Guard to his location.
