    The Village Realty People from the Outer Banks of North Carolina Attend the 2011 VRMA Annual Conference in Orlando Florida

    This Outer Banks Real Estate and Vacation Rental company always sends a large contingent of their employees to the annual Vacation Rental Managers Association (VRMA) meetings and this year was no exception.

    Eight employees attended the recent VRMA Conference to attend seminars about everything from Google, marketing, best practices for housekeeping and maintenance to the growing importance of mobile device usage to the vacation rental industry.

    SEO-search engine optimization-is a hot topic at every conference as is hiring and retaining good employees, effective communication and emerging travel trends.

    Keynote speakers included Haley Knowlton, an ad-words account executive from Google, Chris Davidson with YPartnership and Simon Bailey of the Brilliance Institute Inc who was voted the best keynote speaker ever by readers of Meetings and Conventions magazine. Bailey spoke about “Vuja De” which has three objectives: shifting your thinking to accelerate results; creating the future you want; and driving meaningful results instead of being driven by ambiguity. Holly Ross, of Village Realty's Web Services Group, was particularly impressed with Bailey’s encouraging message of creating the destiny you want by seeing and doing things differently.

    First time attendee Maslin Seal, of Village Realty's Web Services Group, had this to say about the conference: “Beyond the interesting seminars and official programs there were a lot of great ideas and networking that get your wheels turning.” Vice-President of Rentals Jackie Myers has been to many VRMA conferences and felt this one was particularly timely and provided a lot of useful information she plans to implement or continue within the company.

    It was not all work for the Village People. On their last night in Orlanda Maslin Seal, Holly Ross, Christine Sawyer, Bruce McDonald, Durinda Blevins, Maggie Sexton and Kara Betty took in a Cirque du Soleil performance. Blevins said it was one of the most amazing things she's ever seen.

    Village Realty has offices in Nags Head, Corolla and Columbia, NC. Their sister company, Ocracoke Island Realty, is located on Ocracoke Island and manages over 300 plus vacation home rentals there.
