New site combines interactive forums, information pages for elected officials plus searchable databases for lobbyists, media and more.

Virtual Dome Texas (VDTX), created by a former legislative staffer, wants to take the mystery out of the dome and make it easier for anyone working at or visiting the Capitol to exchange and share information, discuss policy and even debate the merits of legislation in a safe, managed online environment.
“As a person who has worked in and around the Texas State Capitol, I realized how much time we spend seeking out different information on various sites. Even then, there is no guarantee that the information we find is up to date and accurate,” said Christie Goodman, founder of Virtual Dome Texas, LLC. “I wanted a site that would be a one-stop shop for current information and a place where those working around the Capitol could exchange ideas both under their name and anonymously.”
Interactive forums managed by VDTX staff provide users the ability to share opinions on political issues, debate legislation and to exchange views on policy in real-time. Christie says this feature has been one of the most interesting to the users who’ve been testing the site. “We see opportunity to help these legislative offices connect with each other through Virtual Dome to discuss and debate new and future laws.”
Early users of the site have been busy testing VDTX for several weeks now, helping the development team prepare the site for launch. “I’ve worked at the Capitol and in the private sector, and what’s most impressive is how effective a resource Virtual Dome is for people in both worlds,” said Jenni Sellers, the state government affairs manager for Select Management Resources and Lone Star Title Loans.
VDTX launches officially on the evening of February 23, 2012 at a special event in Austin. Please visit http://www.virtualdometexas.com after that date for complete sign up and subscription information.
