Visa signs deals with 3 cos. that will help expand mobile payment options for merchants
FOSTER CITY, Calif. (AP) -- Visa has signed deals with three companies to help expand wireless systems that merchants can use to process credit cards.
The agreements with mobile point-of-sale providers iZettle, SumUp and Swiff will see them become part of the Visa Ready Program. The companies' mobile systems will be tested so that they can be approved for use with Visa payments. These wireless payment systems will make it easier for businesses to ditch traditional cash registers. They can also allow merchants on the go — such as those at flea markets and farm stands — to accept credit cards.
Visa Inc. said Wednesday that it also approved two mobile devices from AnywhereCommerce and Miura Systems to accept Visa payments.
Shares of Visa fell $3.20 to $177 in afternoon trading.
