"The Walking Dead" closed out with a bang on Sunday night, bringing in its biggest audience in the show's history.
The last episode from departing showrunner Glen Mazzara brought in 12.4 million viewers.
But, the bigger news - 8.1 million of those viewers were in the coveted (to advertisers) 18-49 adults demo.
After the big Season 3 finale, the cast and crew Tweeted out their thanks to the fans.
"Thanks for following #TheWalkingDead journey with us this season. We love you (even if we can't make everyone happy)! XOXO #SeeYouInOctober," Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd wrote.
Melissa McBride, who plays the show's beloved Carol Tweeted, "#TheWalkingDead Thanks to all for watching the show! & @glenmazzara @GunnerGale @AMC_TV Thank you for an awesome season 3! #momentum."
Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn on the show, also offered his thanks, "Thank you everyone. Much love. Much thanks. Blessed with all your support."
Filming on Season 4, under new showrunner Scott Gimple, begins in Atlanta in May.
