Wall Wawa scare: Plumbing truck catches fire at store’s gas station on Route 34

WALL - A plumbing company van caught fire Tuesday afternoon as it sat parked under a gas station canopy at the Wawa on Route 34.

The Wall Township Police Department said in a statement that the fire was under investigation and asked motorists to avoid the area as first responders were at work on the scene.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the burned-out wreckage of the vehicle sat beside a scorched and damaged pumping station island a short time later.

In addition to police and firefighters, the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office was on the scene.
