Walmart semi-trailer catches fire at Hillsborough County store

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Walmart semi-trailer caught fire Thursday night at a Hillsborough County store.

The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said it was called to the Walmart on Gunn Highway around 8:30 p.m. for a fire.

A 911 caller reported that the fire was coming from a parked Walmart semi-trailer in the back and smoke was starting to fill the store. The caller said the fire was extinguished but they wanted firefighters to check it out.

Crews said when they arrived, the trailer was still on fire. They worked to access the inside of the trailer to vent the flames through the top. Firefighters said they were able to extinguish the flames quickly. They also ventilated the smoke out of the store.
