TORONTO - Former Pride champion Wanderlei (The Axe Murderer) Silva will face light-heavyweight Brian (All American) Stann in the main event of a televised UFC event in Japan on March 3.
The card will take place at the Saitama Super Arena.
The 36-year-old Silva (34-12-1 with one no contest) is coming off a loss to Rich Franklin at UFC 147.
Stann (12-5) was beaten by Michael Bisping last time out at UFC 152. The 32-year-old is a decorated former U.S. Marine.
Other confirmed bouts for Japan include bantamweights Takeya Mizugaki versus Bryan Caraway and Alex Caceres versus Kyung Ho Kang, lightweights Takanori Gomi versus Diego Sanchez and Cristiano Marcello versus Kazuki Tokudome, welterweight Dong-Hyun (Stun Gun) Kim versus Siyar Bahadurzada and middleweight Riki Fukuda versus Brad Tavares.
A heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Stefan (Skyscraper) Struve had already been announced.
